Hello friends! Despite the pandemic continuing to hamper many businesses we actually had a great summer. 1) Our friend Joan Baum reviewed Howard Owen's upcoming 11th Willie Black mystery, Monument, for NPR member station WSHU! Monument will be available in hardcover and ebook in November of this year. 2) Author of Mrs. Rossi's Dream (2019 Booklist Best New Book), Khanh Ha, has won the EastOver Press 2021 Prize for Fiction for his collection All the Rivers Flow into the Sea & Other Stories. Hello friends. Although we are still mourning the death of our founder, we are carrying on Marty's legacy of publishing great literature and creating a community of great indie writers. Dear friends of The Permanent Press, Last month our co-founder and co-publisher Martin Shepard passed away from a sudden illness at the age of 86. Marty’s passion for his work permeated every endeavor he took up, from psychiatry to real estate to politics to publishing.
